Life TREX - an outdoor transitional program

Social Skills ~ Independent Living Skills ~ Vocational Skills

July 12-24, 2020

In the summer of 2014, The Fowler Center launched a new program for teens and young adults diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. The Life TREX program is an innovative experience that encourages campers to test new behaviors and skills which are targeted to improve independent living, social, and vocational function, in a supportive environment.

Rolling Admission until all spots are filled. Forms are due 30 days after Session Confirmation.


Daily Schedule (sample)

8:00 AM – Breakfast and clean up

9:00 AM – Skill Development Activity 1

10:00 AM – Skill Development Activity 2

12:00 PM – Lunch/clean up/siesta

2:00 PM – Skill Development Activity 3

3:30 PM – Skill Development Activity 4

5:00 PM – Dinner

7:00 PM – Evening Program

8:30 PM – Flagpole and Daily Debrief

Camper Eligibility

To be eligible for the program participants must meet the following criteria:
  • age 14-27 diagnosed with an ASD
  • ambulatory
  • ability to alert program staff of individual needs
  • ability to refrain from behaviors that pose a risk to oneself and/or others
  • ability to complete ADLs such as hygiene, toileting, and cleaning
  • ability to make choices

Fees & Funding

Life TREX (2 weeks): $1,628

The Fowler Center has allocated a certain amount of camperships for those in the LifeTREX program. In addition, you may be eligible for funding that is granted to families of individuals’ s with special needs. The Fowler Center would be happy to direct you to these funding avenues. In 2014 the Ted Lindsay Foundation provided a portion of campership funds.
